Materials schedule: V&A

30 September 2019 Documenting materials at the V&A introduced me to a number of unconventional uses of materials- within and outside of the respective ‘material galleries’. The use of a range of materials like plastics (etched, 3d printed), fibres (japanese rice paper) and ceramics (Wendy Ramshaw x Wedgewood) in jewellery were of particular interest to… Continue reading Materials schedule: V&A

Drawing from space: cue Wendy Ramshaw

01 October 2019 I tried to develop aesthetic form and abstract representation of some photographs of emotional value. I decided to explore Kew Gardens as a possible source of inspiration and abstraction.

Case Study: Wendy Ramshaw

29 September 2019 “How or when my work is worn is not particularly important to me. The way in which others may organise it is an open-ended extension of its use. Such a possibility for varying personal choice is interesting precisely because it is out of my control.” Neckpiece for Picasso's 'Portrait of a woman'… Continue reading Case Study: Wendy Ramshaw

26 September 2019 After collecting object images from the V&A, I set about analyzing why I was drawn to certain objects, and why I liked some and disliked others. At the debriefing session with Scott and my Pathway peers, I discussed my objects and hoped to get some insight for future steps. I chose to… Continue reading V&A Debriefing

V&A Visit Day 2

26 September 2019 Today I visited the 'Food - Bigger Than The Plate' exhibit at the V&A. It opened my mind to a number of design possibilities as well as viewpoints and revelations based on food production, trade, consumption and waste. The street farmhouse project and the Loowatt dealt with collection and utilization of human… Continue reading V&A Visit Day 2

Visit to the V&A museum

Today’s visit to the Victoria and Albert museum was inspiring in more ways than one. Isabel suggested exploring the pathway of adaptation and reuse in context to the various objects in the museum, to re-imagine the creative potential of already existing products. (Transformative solutions) During our initial brief, we were given some creative tasks to… Continue reading Visit to the V&A museum
