Artist statement

  • convey the human body, form, interaction that M&J entails
  • Convey items not for utilitarian value – texture, surface, design

P04 Investigate

  • Switch outcomes and processes sheet
  • After 3 sheets – narrow down to larger sized images to show editorial conclusive approach for next project
  • Text – intent – purposeful open ended exercise
  • Narratives mentioned in sheet 1 – carry to outcomes and processes – decoding biology, titles – more symbolic references to process and material – key symbolic words – metamorphosis, growth, life, arterial biology, vascular system, arterial connotations – pull into process – translate narrative generation process

P05 Realize

  • Show conclusive images – narrowed down, photographed in context of skin, human
  • Remove scientific context of tupperware, solution, bring in human aspect, aspect of jewellery being created, conclusion of research, pause point
  • Bring out outcomes as final works to show diverse scale, processes and approaches

P03 Artefact

  • Title – is it a handbag? is it usable? Try to imply narrative in title – convey idea and thought rather than utility as embodied in artefact; what are we looking at really? hand house? synergy? symbiotic relationship? narrative – growing bag? what does it bring to the user? what does the user do with it? symbolic meaning – refer Bernini’s sculpture – Apollo chasing Daphne – transformation, narrative, story, emotion, made tangible..
  • Moodboard page – convey this as a research methodology rather than a sheet to be read out, conclude with important sketches, explain what was derived from where – make moodboard smaller – as reference, place bigger sketch images of what came out of it, convey how this method was useful in concept development
  • embodiment of material and function – example – homeopathic medicine impregnated in yarn – absorbed by skin – think about nature of crystals, ivy or other plants – oxygen, medicinal properties, perfume.. against the skin – research physical and chemical properties of material used
  • Keep concept not just purely illustrative – address deeper symbolic aspects
  • Present Lost time as a developmental work for hot house – not purely a finished outcome – lead upto handbag outcome – hand as related to handbag – sheet seems more developmental than final – conveys process, bring out meaning of landscapes in the development and conceptualization
  • Overall – revisit with narrative perspective – convey thought behind each aspect – visually and through text

P02 Navigators

  • Where is the butterfly derived from? Nomadic – where does a butterfly live? connect jacob’s ladder exercise with form of butterfly – connect writing exercise – community – wildlife – harmony – to the physical interpretation of spatial formations
  • Is butterfly jewellery to the building – reference the scale, spatial elements
  • Make emphasis on viewing the world – perception – bring out process in narrative aspect rather than entirely physical, making aspect – connect concept to outcome
  • articulate and evaluate as embodied thought rather than product design

Carpet design – remove

Architecture Thesis

  • Cut down to 3 sheets
  • Use project to convey (literally write down) interest in integration of craft and design
  • Use plans sheet, cover sheet/context sheet, workshop sheet
  • Contextualize the relevance of the project within the application

To Do:

  • Update and refine past projects – convey narrative and idea, relevance to application
  • Develop and document Realize project progress – max possible – as resolved outcome – human connect
  • Cover page?
