Present piece as work in progress – critically evaluate issues and problems – through an evaluation in blog – for next prototype.
Issues apparent initially:
- Sharp edges
- Handles
- Precedents
Sharp edges
Iron out edges in next prototype
- Weld structure instead of wound wire
- Consider other materials for a potential product for market
The Handbag
Provenance of the Handbag, Check out Handbag Museum Amsterdam – historical precedents in form, function, materials, aesthetics, evolution
how could this potentially be developed into a viable product?
What materials would be used for its functionality? (silk thread – weave abstraction on fabric instead of rigid weave? other materials)
More dynamic form? (Daniel Leibskind)
what is the kind of market for it?
- High end, bespoke? high price, handmade?
- Mid range? create in 100s, available at some select stores?
- Can it be converted into another type of bag/carry-able container?
- Can it be a product for the Kew Garden shop?
Provenance of Kew Gardens
- Scientific provenance – historical context
- Seed bank – context of plants and organic nature of elements within the gardens – go deeper into the context rather than just aesthetics
- Take images of hot houses and trace lines, abstract patterns, develop surface, pattern making
