Trying to work on the structure of the handbag till I can develop a vocabulary for the aesthetic for the weave.. Wrapping found (and borrowed) wire and rods towards the structure is a complex and time consuming process, I should probably weld metal rods for next time, as they would not only be more consistent in their aesthetics, but also safer for use, due to avoidance of sharp edges.

Preserving vines in PVA seems contradictory to my concept, even though pva gives leaves an attractive glossy shine. Real plants would be a far better option to convey the narrative.

I collected more, smaller vines from a trimmed heap on my way from home. Some still have roots on them. The scale of the smaller vines seems to fit better with the scale of the handbag. I need to look at ways of sustaining and propagating living plants within the structure.

Plastic test tubes found from the modelling studio – could be woven into the side to hold the soil/medium for the vines..
