- Planned journey-from London to Granada – a contrast from the adventure of walking/riding through cobblestone streets of the historic Moorish town.
- Housed in a beautiful Moroccan villa with views to the alhambra monument and the beautiful Carrera del Darro street below.
- City planned at the time of Moorish rule in Spain, complete with moat and bastions
- Hilly terrain, cobblestone lanes, alleys and steps connecting houses, shops, tapas restaurants and flamenco bars.
- Organic hilly terrain- perfect place to apply the concepts of newly learnt paychogeographic tool- the dérive.
- Convinced Lizette that it was a real ‘thing’ and that we should explore the town by ‘drifting aimlessly’.
- Moorish water fountains, postcard style tiles, impromptu bus ride- turned into loop city tour, walks along the moat and across the shaded stairways with wrought iron balconies laden with roses and bougainvilleas
- Ventured up and down the small town, chatted in Spanish with locals, tried local cuisine, bumped into and shopped at a spice market!!
- Back at the Airb’n’b – amazing night time views of alhambra and the street below, on account of the abutting facade of the bungalow along the moat and adjoining street – a beauty afforded by the organic development of architecture.
- No amount of ‘urban design’ can match the sense of mystery and adventure in drifting through historic cities
